Moving from France
The eastern and northern roads are the French approaches. The authorisation is still issued in Andorra, under Andorran law.
Official letter codes and Law 2/2026 amounts are on become a resident. Use Govern.ad and counsel on both sides of the frontier.
The 2001 convention
France is a party, with Spain, to the convention of 14 June 2001 on entry, circulation, stay and establishment, published on the Ministry of Justice conventions list. The convention is not itself a residence permit.
Documents the Government currently describes
The A.1 page allows EU and EEA nationals to present a national identity card instead of a passport. France is an EU member state. Criminal-record certificates, accommodation, civil status and, for workers, a contract remain on the published list. Apostille or legalisation is required for foreign official documents. Self-employed J.1 and residence-without-work D.1 are separate files. Official codes are on become a resident.
Convention nationals may see a different renewal path on the official renewal pages. Read those pages. The first grant on A.1 is described there as one year, with later cycles set out on the same text.
The French-facing parishes
Encamp includes Pas de la Casa on the French frontier. Canillo and Ordino sit on high valleys that many French visitors already know in winter. Everyday administration still gathers in Andorra la Vella. See the seven parishes.
Tax, banks, property
French tax residence and Andorran tax residence are not the same question as an immigration stamp. See tax residence and the taxes theme on Govern.ad.
